Day 1 - What are my goals????

This is what I was asked on my health questionnaire before meeting with my trainer.  They gave me 2 lines to answer that.  Really, 2 lines.  I have always stressed to my employees as well as myself that if you have a goal you need to have a plan to reach those goals.  So, I asked for a second sheet of paper.  The trainer looked at me like I was nuts, but if I was going to do this, then I was going all in.

So, here it is....

I changed the "what are your goals" to "why are you here".

First, I need to lose weight.  If I don't, it will kill me.  I love my wife to much for that.  How do I go about this? 1.  Commit 1-2 hours a day for at least 5 days a week.  If that means getting up at 5am on a Saturday, that's what it means.  2.  Document every workout.  Documentation is accountability.  3.  Understand that failures are going to happen.  Have to get back on the horse when they do.

Second - My father is diabetic, and I am heading there.  I don't want that to happen.

Third - I take 3 medications daily.  Losing weight will eliminate them and save me roughly $500/year.

Forth - I hope to motivate my wife to take the same steps.

So, how did today go?  I met with a trainer today.  Due to HBP, cholesterol and asthma issues, they need a medical release from my doctor to actually work with me.  Basically, just gave me an overview of the club, put me through the various stretches on the stretching machine.  He said that once they get the release back from the doc, he can show me how to use the equipment.  I was able to do anything I wanted at my own health risk without him.  I managed 1.5 miles on the elliptical and did some weight training and then a cool down on the indoor track

All in all, a good day 1.  Looking forward to Day 2.

Oh, yeah....257.4  Never want to see that number again.
